On this brisk January morning, we varied the music moods from exotic to highly home-grown and down-home. Tempos varied from gentle and elegant to romping and rocking. If you, the listener, are going to be in the car, office, or home WEMU must provide a stimulating and ever-changing musical background for you. One of the most stimulating recordings I've encountered in a while is "Cuban Crosshatching" by percussionist/composer Arturo Stable. He is working with fellow sensitive improvising musicians: saxophonist Seamus Blake and guitarist/vocalist Lionel Loueke who interpret his trance-like tunes with grace. Stable's "Habana Del Este" sounded seamlessly beautiful paired with "In My Dreams" on the new CD by the local Latin jazz ensemble, Aguanko. We hope you agree that all the moods and approaches on 89.1 Jazz this morning came together well. Thank you for listening.
