The 15-piece Paul Keller Orchestra celebrates its 25th anniversary with a special gig at their home Zal Gaz Grotto on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 7 till 10 PM.
Zal Gaz Grotto is located at 2070 W. Stadium Boulevard (between Liberty and Pauline) on the WEST side of Ann Arbor.
Since January, 1989 the Paul Keller Orchestra has presented great big band jazz to Ann Arbor music lovers - first at the old Bird of Paradise Jazz Club (13 years), then at The Firefly Club (8 years), then at the Keystone Underground (1 year) and now at Zal Gaz Grotto (3 years and counting)!
Indefatigable leader, string bassist and local jazz hero Paul Keller drives the amazing big band every Monday night at Zal Gaz Grotto - Ann Arbpr's "secret jazz club". For their special Friday, January 10 anniversary show, the PKO will perform material from the entire history of jazz - including original compositions and arrangements from their many CDs.
The Paul Keller Orchestra is string bassist Paul Keller, drummer Pete Siers. pianist Duncan McMillam, vocalist Sarah D'Angelo, trumpeters Paul Finkbeiner, Brandon Cooper, Jimmy Smith and Luther Bird, trombonists Terry Kimura, Tony Buccilli and Brooks Barnes, saxophonists Keith Kaminski, Bobby Streng, Steve Wood and Mark Kieme.
