This concert will open with the band Sumkali, followed by the trio of Pandit Saha, Muruga Booker, and John Churchville.
Joty Drums is a collaborative effort by internationally recognized master musicians who came together at Sage Court Studio in Ann Arbor, MI. to record a groundbreaking album of completely improvised percussion music featuring Indian tabla drums and the Nada talking drum. The album was released digitally back in January and the plan is now to release a physical copy in September with a C.D. release event at the legendary Kerrytown Concert house.
Currently there is a Kickstarter campaign underway to raise the funds to print the album independently. Rewards for donating to the fund include signed copies of the C.D. VIP passes to the C.D. release event and even dinner with the artists.
In addition to the three percussionists, the C.D. release event will feature many guest musicians making for an unforgettable, one-time-only world percussion and improvisation experience.
