It was almost one year ago when Scott Terrell first held the baton and led the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra. The LPO was seeking a replacement for long time conductor George Zack. Terrell was a finalist, and a concert in October, 2008 was his time to make an impression as a guest conductor.

"Well, good evening ladies and gentlemen. It's a great privilege to be here in Lexington. I've been asked to say a few words, so, in deference to the Bluegrass region and particularly the horse country, I will limit my time to two minutes and one seconds, the official time of Big Brown winning the 2008 Kentucky Derby. So, you may start your watches now."

Now, Scott Terrell is Lexington Philharmonic's permanent conductor and he faces his first season with the orchestra. The season's first concert is tonight.
