Bluegrass Airport Prevents Spending Leaks
The head of the Bluegrass Airport board says all signs indicate new policies meant to prevent problem spending' are working.
The new policies are the result of a state audit which confirmed lavish spending by top airport executives. Chairman Bobby Owens says their biggest restriction has all reimbursement requests from employees reviewed by the airport board. Owens says no problem calls have come into a new whistle blower phone line.
"So we know every month if that's being utilized and like I said to date we've had one call and that was a test call set up the first month," Owens said.
Owens says, thus far, about $45,000 and a lot of stuff' have been recovered from former employees. Former Director Mike Gobb and three of his managers now face felony theft charges. Owens offered the update to members of the Urban County Council Tuesday.
