EKU Basketball Season Begins
(2009-11-05)
(WEKU) - When it comes to making strides this season, there seems to be a common theme among players and the head coach of the Eastern Kentucky University basketball team.

Last year, the Colonels relied on a three guard lineup that produced consistent three point shooting. With an undersized squad this year, Head Coach Jeff Neubauer says a five guard lineup is a possibility. But, the key to success may be to limit the opposition to one shot at the basket as much as possible.

"We've got to play great possessions of defense we've got to sit down in a stance and make people take tough shots and we've done that now can we finish those possessions and grab one rebound that will be the key to our season," Neubauer said.

Eastern opens up at home November 14th against West Virginia Wesleyan. Five days later they take on Pittsburgh, who went deep in last year's NCAA tournament.
