The Economy and The Election
Michigan's economic problems are expected to be on the minds of voters next week.
In Jackson, incumbent mayor Jerry Ludwig concedes the tough economy has sapped his city's tax revenues and driven unemployment levels to double digit levels.
"I joke about it. I say if there was a worst time to run for mayor, this is it. Because everybody's upset," says Ludwig.
Challenger Karen Dunigan says Jackson's next mayor will have to make tough decisions including laying off city employees.
"Unfortunately some people may have to lose their jobs. It's a tough thing to do, but we can't afford it anymore," says Dunigan.
