Education Commissioner Suggests New Teaching Methods
Education Commissioner Terry Holliday says Kentucky's teaching methods are outdated and need to be upgraded. Speaking at Eastern Kentucky University Wednesday, Holliday encouraged interactive learning in the classroom.
Holliday says many schools use 18th century teaching methods on 21st century students.
"We are still lecture driven, and what we need to do is much more engagement, anything from social networking to laptops to cell phones. We need to use the technology tools in our classrooms and what we need is cooperative learning because most businesses today now work in teams."
Holliday has been on the job since August.
