UK Improves Equine Reproduction Studies
(2009-10-27)
(WEKU) -

Remodeled facilities at the University of Kentucky's Equine Campus are expected to enhance research into reproduction. A groundbreaking ceremony was held Monday. Doctor Mats Troedsson, who directs Equine Research at UK's Gluck center, says having lab facilities on the farm will create significant benefits.

"Studying the mechanism of fertilization, the development of the early concepts to find out to further understand what goes wrong with early pregnancy losses," Troedsson said.

Troedsson says miscarriages in late pregnancy will also be studied. The remodeled facilities will also be used for the management of mares and stallions. He hopes research work can continue at the site during remodeling.
