Lexington Library Plans to Expand
(2009-10-13)
(WEKU) -

The Lexington Public Library would like to add another branch to its system over the next few years. Library board chair Larry Smith says a branch library is needed to serve the Hamburg area.

"So we're looking for a spot in there but it's gonna take probably a couple of years before we can afford to build another branch," Smith said. "But that may be one of the things the foundation takes on next is to raise some major a major capital campaign to raise the money to build a new branch or part of the money to build a new branch."

For now the library foundation is working to raise funds to help with a major renovation of the central library theater. The library foundation is working to match a $257,000 grant from the Lucille Little foundation.
