Green Report Card Released for KY Universities
The Sustainable Endowments Institute has released its annual Green Report Card for colleges across America. Berea College, Centre College, the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville were among the schools nationwide that were evaluated on their efforts of sustainability.
SEI spokeswoman Leah Lupkin says the Kentucky schools are holding their own when it comes to green progress.
"Almost all of the schools were able to raise their grades this year, which is a considerable accomplishment because we actually raised the bar in our evaluation standards," Lupkin said.
Lupkin says, this year, rather than evaluate the schools based solely on the existence of initiatives, the Sustainable Endowments Institute also measured the results that have come from those initiatives.
Of the four Kentucky colleges evaluated, the University of Louisville and Berea College received the highest grades, with each earning a B+. The University of Kentucky finished with a B-, and Centre College stayed flat with a grade of C.
