EKU Awaits H1N1 Vaccines
A vaccine for swine flu will not arrive at Eastern Kentucky University until mid October. At first, the school's health officials will treat high-risk patients, and then students. EKU Dean of Students Claire Good says no follow-up shot will be needed.
"The one good thing that they've done is they've pretty much determined that, for a while they thought it might have to be a two-step vaccination where you had to get two, but now they've pretty much determined that that's not going to be the case. It will be a one vaccine-type shot," Good said.
Good says the university is already sending students home who exhibit flu symptoms, and has advised them to avoid contact with anyone while ill.
