It's possible new bus trolleys could roll through downtown Lexington before Christmas. Lextran has purchased five trolleys. Two have already been delivered.
Lextran General Manager Rocky Burke says they may start running next spring, but an earlier date is possible.
"The new trolleys will all be here in November, so obviously we can't do anything until then," Burke said. We've been sort of wanting to make sure we had everything in place and certainly have the routes pretty much cast in stone before we do something.
Burke says the trolleys will travel along Main and Vine streets during mid-day. In the evening, they would circulate between the University of Kentucky, Transylvania University and downtown.
