Staying 'Dry' on the Water
(2009-07-01)
(Kentucky Public Radio) - The 4th of July holiday will have many people hitting the lake, but the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife warns that alcohol and boating are a deadly combination. Kentucky ranks above the national average for boating fatalities linked to alcohol.

Sergeant Brett Zalla with Fish and Wildlife says most people arrested for drinking on the water think it's less harmful than drinking on the road.

In 2007, 28% of boating fatalities were linked to alcohol. In Kentucky, that number jumped to 50%.
