Congressman Wilson unsatisfied with climate bill
(2009-06-28)
(WOUB) - Southeast Ohio Congressman Charlie Wilson says he voted against the so-called "Climate Bill" because it does not, in his words, "protect energy consumers and industries in my district."

The House narrowly passed the legislation Friday night.

It calls for the nation's first limits on pollution linked to climate
change, with a goal of developing cleaner energy.

Wilson,a Democrat, says he supports the goals of reducing greenhouse gases and energy independence but expressed concern about provisions relating to coal.

He released a statement that says "I believe that coal must and will play a major role in our nation's transition to energy independence."
