Lexington Plan Calls for More 2-way Streets

A number of downtown Lexington streets might one day open to two-way traffic. A downtown master streetscape plan calls for Second and Short streets to switch to two-way traffic to encourage motorists to stop and spend time downtown. Vice Mayor Jim Gray says two-way traffic makes city downtowns a destination. "The more progressive cities, especially university towns like Lexington have put a real focus on connecting their university and their downtown and making their downtowns destinations and that means traffic goes through their downtown at a slower pace."
