We're gonna have to start being a little more suspect about what we can add to this budget because we don't have the revenues that we think we are gonna have."
Chief of Staff Shay Raebold asked council to base its decisions on the original revenue projection. If more cuts are needed within a few months, Raebold says council would have input. © Copyright 2012, WEKU

LEXINGTON, KY
(WEKU) -
Lexington officials fear the city is finally feeling the national recession. In April, they predicted the city next year will receive 278-million dollars in revenue. But Tuesday, Finance Commissioner Bill Omara told council members Tuesday they now expect 11-million dollars less. Council member Chuck Ellinger wanted to know which figure is correct."I'm not talking about layoffs. I'm talking about when we're up here as a council and we're starting to talk about our council links. And different groups want different things. We're gonna have to start being a little more suspect about what we can add to this budget because we don't have the revenues that we think we are gonna have."
