Ichthus Fans Celebrate 40 Years of Music
(2009-06-08)
(WEKU) - Thursday marks the 40th anniversary of the Ichthus Christian rock festival. There are seven stages this year, including a techno stage. Plus, there will be lots of video technology including about 14 short films between band concerts. But Ichthus CEO Mark Vermillion adds, there are times to be still.

"The irony is that while there is all of these sensory experiences going on there are elements within this environment where you get to come face to face with your self and come face to face with God in quiet moments," Vermillion said.

Much has changed over its four decades. The three-day concert was once held not far from downtown Wilmore. Now it's on a farm a few miles outside town.

As Ichthus enters its fifth decade, Vermillion says the festival will look a little different.

To stay vital and viable, Executive Director Jeff James says some things have to be done differently. He adds, "Maybe 40 years a good time to click an extra notch in the turn of the vessel.'"
