Ashland hopes to learn soon whether it can begin construction of its veterans riverfront park. The city learned last week it must wait until July 1st to start work on the much-delayed project.The US Army Corps of Engineers says any earlier work would interfere with the fish spawning season. City Manager Steve Corbitt says Ashland has applied for an exemption.
The Ashland project received a ten-million dollar federal grant several years ago, but a series of setbacks delayed construction.
