RICHMOND, KY
(WEKU) -
Someday Lextran riders might have a better idea about a bus's arrival and departure time. The general manager of Lexington's mass transit system hopes to spend federal stimulus dollars on bus locator technology. Rocky Burke says GPS technology would track the exact location of a bus. Then, using their cell-phones, riders could access up-to-the-minute information. And, someday, Burke says audio information could be offered inside Lextran buses. He says, "A pre-recorded message could indicate the bus is approaching the intersection of Limestone and whatever it might be so people on board that are visually impaired will have that information.
