Central and Eastern Kentucky
Road Spending
roads and bridges will keep deteriorating and become less safe
unless the state doubles what it spends on them.
The study was compiled by a Citizens Advisory Committee on
Transportation Funding, which spent four months analyzing the
financial needs of everything from roads to public transit.
The 19-member advisory committee is studying ways to pay for
transportation projects without raising the state's
19-cents-a-gallon gasoline tax.
The report will be delivered today to Governor Granholm's
Transportation Funding Task Force, which will recommend alternative
ways to pay for the state's transportation system. Its final report
is due April 1, 2009.
