Josh "Hoot" Gibson (December 21, 1911 in Buena Vista, Georgia - January 20, 1947 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) was an American catcher in baseball's Negro Leagues. Baseball historians consider Gibson to be among the very best catchers and power hitters in the history of any league.
