Barn Dance at Camp Wokanda
Kick off Fall with an old-fashioned barn dance, Friday, October 18 at Camp Wokanda in Mossville. Live music will be provided by The Mound City Slickers, playing here for the first time. Callers Jim Hicks and Gail Hintze teach all the dances so beginners are welcome. The fun begins at 7 p.m. Come a few minutes early for an introduction to barn dance basics.
The Mound City Slickers are one of St. Louis' finest and best loved string bands. They describe themselves as “seven guys playing old-time contra and square dance tunes and having the best times of their lives.” Their lively sound has made them a favorite at many regular dances in Missouri and Illinois. They released their first CD, “Made Good for You,” in August.
Admission is $5, with a $20 maximum for families. You are invited to bring a snack to share. For more information and directions, call 309-274-5358 or 309-274-2228.
