Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama says trying to protect the 8,000 jobs at DHL's air cargo hub in Wilmington will be a top priority for him before and after the November election. Obama Tuesday met privately in Dayton with workers who could be affected by DHL's plans to hire United Parcel Service to replace ABX Air and Astar Air Cargo in transporting DHL packages. He says he supports making sure there are hearings to investigate possible antitrust implications of the deal. Obama says the U.S. economy will continue to be hollowed out unless the manufacturing base and middle-class job growth is strengthened in the midewst. The 10 billion dollar deal has not been finalized. It was the subject of a U.S. House Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday. Ohio Public Radio's Karen Kasler reports.
