Democratic state lawmakers want to fill Ohio's $850 million budget hole by delaying income tax cut, while Republicans push to wait and see if casino money will help bridge the gap.
(2009-10-30)
(WCBE) - State leaders have projected an $850 million hole in the state budget, and Democratic lawmakers say the best way to fill it is to delay a scheduled 4.2% cut in the state income tax. Republicans are pushing a wait-and-see approach. Some believe the gap could be partially filled with dollars that might materialize if voters Tuesday approve a measure authorizing the construction of gambling casinos in Columbus and three other cities. Statehouse Correspondent Bill Cohen reports.
