Guitarist/composer Stan Smith is an assistant professor of music in the Jazz Studies/Music Industry Program at Capital University in Columbus where he has been the head of the jazz/contemporary guitar curriculum since 1978. At the end of 2013 tragedy struck in the form of a house fire that completely destroyed his home and most of its contents. Luckily Stan, his roommate, his roommates child and some of the many instruments Stan owns were all safe or saved by the fire department. But Stan lost hundreds of records, pieces of music and compositions, as well many other keep-sakes that are irreplaceable. Stanís home for nearly a decade, has been described as ďa place of warmth, of gathering, of friends.Ē
With Stan being so influential in the lives of so many people, students, and the music community, we wanted to do something for Stan. So we have gathered 6 of his past students to volunteer their time and talent, and play a concert for Stan. He will be the Guest of Honor, normally taking the stage, this time enjoying the love and support in the comfort of our intimate Bronwynn Theatre. 100% of all ticket sales, as well as any donations that are made during the event, will be presented to Stan at the conclusion of the concert.
So please join us supporting Stan Smith, for what is sure to be an emotional and exciting evening for such an inspiring artist and man.
We will have a reception in our lobby preceding the concert, starting at 7pm. Catering Sponsor Otani Japanese Restaurant
