Director and screenwriter Pete Docter's newest project, the Disney/Pixar's animated film Up, is an adventure story featuring a grouchy old man, a chubby boy, a 13-foot-tall flightless bird and a house set aloft by balloons. Up is the first animated film to open the Cannes Film Festival.

Docter made his debut in 1988 directing the animated film Winter. He also directed Monsters, Inc. and has an original story credit for WALL-E.
