The 2009-2010 Buffalo theater season officially opens next Friday night, with the annual Curtain Up! celebration. Two shows are getting a head start. Twilight, by Anna Deavere Smith, is presented by the Subversive Theatre Collective, at the Manny Fried Playhouse on Great Arrow Avenue. Directed by Virginia Brannon, it features Victoria Perez. And, MusicalFare Theatre features Randall Kramer and Jeffrey Rockwell in Two Piano Four Hands. There will be another thirteen plays opening next Friday evening during Curtain Up! Tony talks about the return of some productions to town, and recalls his meeting with the legendary George Abbott.
