Legendary Promoter Among Presenters at Free Music Seminar
BUFFALO, NY
(WBFO) -
The days of pounding on a record company's door to get discovered are pretty much over. Now, musicians are acting as their own promoters, producing and selling their music by themselves on the Internet. But the cyber door can get slammed on new musicians just as easily. A free seminar on music production is being held this Sunday at UB, in the student union from 1:00pm until 5:00pm. It will be led by some of the leading experts in the independent music industry. Jon Topper from WBFO's On the Border is also one of the presenters. He joins five other presenters who will cover everything from production and podcasting to licensing and legal issues.

WBFO's Joyce Kryszak talked with Buffalo music promoter Dale Anderson about how the music business is changing.
The Buffalo Music Hall of Famer has worked just about every angle of the music business. The musician, rock critic and promoter even started his own record label, "Hot Wings." But Anderson says he probably learned the most working on a couple of albums by someone you might have heard of.
