UB Bulls Football Team Plays for MAC Championship
(2008-12-05)
BUFFALO, NY
(WBFO) -
Friday is an historic day for the University at Buffalo athletics program. The UB football team will play for the championship of the Mid-American Conference at Ford Field in Detroit.
The Bulls will take on heavily favored Ball State, which is undefeated. For UB, it's a significant moment. From 1999 through 2006, the Bulls were ranked as one of the worst football programs in the country. Now, they're on the verge of a championship.
Former UB President Bill Greiner presided over the upgrade of the football program to Division 1A status. He admits waiting a long time for this special moment and will be in Detroit for the championship game.
It begins at 8:00pm and will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
