Brown & Collins React to Primary Results
(2008-09-11)
(WBFO) - Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and County Executive Chris Collins reacted to results of Tuesday's primaries in two different Assembly races.

Mayor Brown says now that the primaries are over it is time to move on to the general election. Brown referred to Tuesday's results as a spirited Primary. Reporters specifically asked Brown about the victory of incumbent democrat Sam Hoyt in the 144th Assembly District against Barbara Kavanaugh. There was a great deal of speculation that Brown was behind the attempt to oust Hoyt.

Hoyt won despite attempts by attack ads funded by millionaire Tom Golisano that referenced Hoyt's affairs involving former interns. Hoyt will now face off against republican Sheila Ferrentino.

In another Assembly race, it was not a victory of the incumbent. Republican Michael Cole was defeated by Jane Corwin. Cole was also the center of attack ads because he was censured for fraternizing with an intern. County Executive Chris Collins is pleased to see that business woman Corwin emerged the winner, even without the support of the GOP.
