That's what happened Sunday at the Bills game where the Food Bank of Western New York was holding a fundraiser. David Conley and his wife have always had a soft spot for food programs for those in need. Conley's father volunteers his time for the St. Vincent DePaul soup kitchen.
So, when Conley woke up Sunday and heard that Bills owner Ralph Wilson would match all donations to the Food Bank, they decided to take him up on his challenge. The Conleys decided to drop off a check totaling $100,000.
The Conleys' donation and the match from Wilson brought Sunday's fundraising total to nearly $220,000.
Spokesman Mike Billoni said it couldn't come at a better time. The record numbers come as the Food Bank of WNY celebrates Hunger Action Month this month.
Conley, who runs a medical lab, originally wanted to keep his donation anonymous but agreed to come out publicly in hopes of convincing others to help out the Food Bank.
