New Safeguards Against College Loan Fraud
(2008-09-09)
New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo talks to West Seneca East High School students Monday about loan fraud
(WBFO) - Students at West Seneca East Senior High School received a lesson in the down falls of applying for college loans.

New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo visited the high school Monday to explain a new law that offers protections.

A new law took effect September first nationwide that offers safeguards against fraudulent college loans. Attorney General Cuomo says the law was actual modeled after New York's law. It is something Cuomo investigated and fought to put a stop to in the State.

The Attorney General says one of the driving forces behind the new national law was Western New York Congressman Brian Higgins.
