The National Indian Gaming Commission issued the notice to the Seneca Nation last week. WBFO'S Eileen Buckley says two Buffalo leaders are trying remain optimistic that the casino will stay open.
The Seneca's continue operating the temporary casino in the City's Cobblestone District. But Citizens Against Casino Gambling claim the notice gives the Seneca's five days to voluntarily close the casino to correct the violation.
The violation notice was in response to a federal judge's ruling that gaming at the site is illegal. The judge recently ordered the Gaming Commission to close the casino. Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and Erie County Executive Chris Collins say their hands are tied. Both leaders support the city casino.
