NY-26: Jon Powers Tackles Jobs and War Issues
(2008-09-05)
Jon Powers at WBFO
(WBFO) - One of the more visible local races this campaign season is for the 26th Congressional District. That seat is being vacated by long time Republican Congressman Tom Reynolds, who is retiring.

All this week WBFO'S Eileen Buckley has brought you interviews with each of the three democrats vying for the seat. Thursday we heard from Alice Kryzan, Friday we hear from Jon Powers, a school teacher and former Iraq War veteran.

Jon Powers of Clarence is the endorsed Erie County Democratic party candidate. The 30 year old Powers is also youngest in the three-way democratic face off. More than four years ago, Powers was serving his country in Iraq. So how did he go from an war veteran to a congressional candidate?

The winner of next Tuesday's democratic primary will face off in the November election against Republican candidate Chris Lee.
