The state enacted its indoor smoking ban in 2003. A year later, there was an eight percent decline in hospital admissions for heart attacks. The study, which was co-authored by Dr. Andrew Hyland of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, credits the Clean Indoor Air Act for the reduction.
