Spitzer Creates Commission on Local Government Efficiency

(WBFO) - Former Lieutenant Governor and Congressman Stan Lundine will head up a new state commission that will study how local governments in New York can become more efficient.

Governor Spitzer named the the 15-member panel Monday. Other Western New Yorkers serving on the commission are Kathryn Foster of the UB Regional Institute and State Assemblyman Sam Hoyt.

The commission will recommend ways that local governments can become more efficient through mergers and consolidations.

A final report is due next year at this time.
