When a band takes its name from a Charles Baudelaire novella, expectations for decidedly literate lyrics are bound to arise. London's Fanfarlo certainly meet those expectations, but they also bring to the table a rich, ornate sound built by the band's five multi-instrumentalist members. Produced by Peter Katis — who worked with The National on 2007's Boxer — Reservoir was recorded in Katis' home studio in Bridgeport, Conn., and was enough of a success to allow the band members to quit their day jobs and begin extensive touring.
