Ivy Tech pitches budget request to higher ed. comm.
(2008-09-12)
WEST LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
Ivy Tech is seeking $90 million over the next two years for building projects. That's just part of the budget request the community college is making to the Commission for Higher Education.
Ivy Tech President Tom Snyder says a lot of classroom space in the state is leased, which takes money away from hiring full-time faculty.
He says facilities in Gary and Indianapolis are in disrepair as well.
The budget request also includes $20 million dollars to hire about 190 faculty members and 100 student service professionals, such as financial aid and career planning experts.
Commission recommendations for all universities will go to the legislature later this year. © Copyright 2009, wbaa
