Purdue fall enrollment sets records WEST LAFAYETTE, IN (wbaa) - Purdue has broken several records in terms of this fall's enrollment.

The university received more applications from freshman than ever, and those who were admitted have higher SAT scores.

Overall, the total population of 40,090 students is a new record for the West Lafayette campus.

Systemwide, Purdue enrolls nearly 73,000 students.

Efforts to increase diversity seem to be paying off, with more students identifying themselves as African- American, Asian-American, Latino or Native-American this year, compared to last. © Copyright 2009, wbaa
