WLPD working with bar woners to keep streets safe
(2008-09-10)
WEST LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
The West Lafayette Police Chief says things were fairly uneventful for the first football home game this past Saturday. Jason Dombkowski says there was a little bit of trouble with crowds on State Street, but the bar owners are helping manage the situation.
He has asked them to more closely monitor patrons outside their establishments, especially those who leave to smoke.
Dombkowski says 31 arrests were made over the course of the weekend.
He says that is not much different from a non-football weekend.
Dombkowski says the later kickoff this weekend concerns him, because it gives the Breakfast Club crowd more time to travel from bar to bar before game time.
Purdue takes on Oregon at 3:30 Saturday.
