Lafayette leaders mulling over next year's budget
(2008-09-09)
(wbaa) - The final spending plan for the City of Lafayette will be around $50 million, but city officials are in no rush to pass it.

Because of the recent property tax reform, Indiana cities have until December 1st to adopt a 2009 budget.

Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski says with that extra wiggle room, officials have not sliced much of the $1.5 million out of the plan in order to balance it.

He says the payroll part of the budget is one of the biggest pieces, but there are other factors.

Roswarski says he expects final adoption of the 2009 budget in November.
