Effort begins to draw up plans for Wabash River
(2008-09-05)
(wbaa) - Members of the Lafayette area want better access to the Wabash River, as well as more green space and restaurants near the waterfront.

Those are some ideas given to the Wabash River Enhancement Corporation, as it begins its master planning process for the corridor.

Executive Director Stan Lambert does not think the railroad tracks on the Lafayette side of the river will be an obstacle.

Lambert also says the waste water treatment plant on the West Lafayette side could be used for educating residents about the importance of a clean river.

He plans to present three or four strategies for the public to consider at another meeting in November.
