Dem candidates: Better planning is needed
(2008-09-04)
(wbaa) - Better planning is the promise Democrats running for Tippecanoe County office are making.

The four candidates criticized the way the current council and commission plans and budgets.

At-Large Council Candidate Susan Schechter calls the recent council budget hearings a haphazard process.

Schechter says there needs to be more transparency in the budget process by using a more detailed budget.

At-Large Council Candidate Keith Austin thinks citizens are becoming cynical at the way the county does business.

He says waiting until the last minute to replace the county's aging ambulance fleet is another example of poor planning.

Scheckter, Austin and Mike Simpson face Republicans John Basham, Kathy Vernon and Keving Underwood for three seats on the county council.
