Purdue closer to parental leave policy
(2008-09-08)
WEST LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
Purdue administrators continue to work on a parental leave policy. President France Cordova told members of the Faculty Senate the new policy should be ready for a Board of Trustees vote later this month.
The university announced in February it would start drafting guidelines for the leave, which could be used for the birth of a child, an adoption, or when someone becomes a foster parent.
Cordova says the Board of Trustees recognize the benefit of such a policy, but also are concerned with the large cost associated with the paid leave.
The trustees are set to meet the 26th on the Fort Wayne campus. © Copyright 2009, wbaa
