Ordinance could ease ticket writing process WEST LAFAYETTE, IN (wbaa) - A West Lafayette ordinance up for a council vote Monday night could make it easier for the city to issue tickets.

If approved, the measure would allow inspectors to write tickets for city code violations.

This includes violations of the BOCA housing code.

Property owners who fail to maintain their yards face a $50 penalty on the first offense and $100 for the second. A third violation is a $250 ticket.

However, officials say a warning will always be issued before a fine.

The provision is designed to improve code enforcement while keeping costs low.

The council meets tonight at 6:30 in city hall.
