United Way kicks off Week of Caring LAFAYETTE, IN (wbaa) - Nonprofit organizations in Greater Lafayette could be starting up to 70 projects, thanks to the United Way's Week of Caring.

Today marks the beginning of that program, where volunteers will help out United Way partners and other nonprofits.

The work includes power washing, painting and landscaping.

This week also kicks off the organization's yearly fundraiser. The group is hoping to collect 5-million dollars, which would be a new record.
