IN ranks 7th most vulnerable for oil dependence
(2008-08-31)
NEW YORK, NY
(wbaa) -
A new report lists Indiana as the 7th most vulnerable state in terms of dependence on oil. The National Resource Defense Council's Fighting Oil Addiction study also finds the state is 29th in terms of creating policies to improve its situation.
Transportation Policy Director Deron Lovaas hopes a new president and Congress next year will move the nation farther down the road to energy efficiency.
Lovaas says states should not wait for the federal government to act.
He cites California's tougher vehicle emission standards and 13 other states adopting them.
