Indiana State Teachers Association makes endorsement WEST LAFAYETTE, IN (wbaa) - The Indiana State Teachers Association is endorsing a candidate in the District 26 State House race.

The group is backing Democrat John Polles over Republican Randy Truitt.

Jennifer Smith-Margraf is a teacher at Jefferson High School and chair of the local I.S.T.A. political action committee.

She says both candidates were invited to interview with the committee, Polles did and Truitt did not, but that does not mean Polles won the endorsement by default.

Polles has a background in education, having served as a professor at Purdue, Ivy Tech and the U.S. Military Academy.

Current State Representative Joe Micon is not seeking re-election to the District 26 seat. © Copyright 2009, wbaa
