Indiana suing Countrywide Home Loans
(2008-08-25)
LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
Indiana is suing the nation's largest mortgage lender. Attorney General Steve Carter says his office filed a lawsuit against Countrywide Home Loans and its parent company, Countrywide Financial.
He says the company engaged in deceptive and misleading practices, which resulted in borrowers obtaining potentially risky and costly loans.
The lawsuit seeks several actions, but overall Carter wants Countrywide to end the deceptive practices alleged in court documents.
He says Countrywide customers should carefully review their mortgage contracts.
Those who feel their signed contract does not reflect what they were told should file a complaint online.
